£1,300 recovered for Mrs Y in a claim against her supermarket pharmacy

Following orthopaedic surgery Mrs Y was prescribed Tramadol for pain relief but was incorrectly dispensed Trazadone in place of her prescribed drug.

Mrs Y failed to notice the error for 2 weeks during which time she had taken 2 of the incorrect tablets every 4 hours for the entire period.

During this time Mrs Y was very drowsy and in constant pain from her operation. Her post operative pain was not eased at all. She felt very depressed and was very weepy for a number of weeks after the error was noticed. She struggled to look after her 15 month old son and her mother and husband had to help with the housework and looking after her son.

The amount of help she required was much more than was expected after her operation.

The Defendant admitted at an early stage that they had made an error and after negotiations damages were recovered in the sum of £1,300.
