£20,000 recovered for pressures sores sustained by elderly patient while under care of local hospital following knee replacement surgery

The Claimant in this case is a 73 year old lady who developed pressure sores on her heels following a knee replacement surgery. Her sores took 12 months to heal, and delayed the further knee surgery she required in order to restore her mobility and independence.

An expert nursing report was obtained confirming that the nursing care the Claimant received was poor, and that the sores she developed were avoidable.

A formal letter of claim was sent to the Defendant. The case was quickly settled without the need to issue legal proceedings with a negotiated settlement of £20,000 plus payment of legal costs.
