Once the error was noticed and the medication stopped Mrs Z’s symptoms subsided with no ongoing problems.
Mrs Z was prescribed Amitriptyline for pain relief following
surgery but was incorrectly dispensed Amlodipone. This error went
unnoticed for 13 days during which time Mrs Z experienced
difficulty in breathing and extreme tightness in her chest
resulting in her needing to use an angina spray.
Once the error was noticed and the medication stopped Mrs Z's
symptoms subsided with no ongoing problems.
The Defendant admitted at an early stage that they had made an
error and after negotiations damages were awarded in the sum of
£1,800.
