£17,500 recovered for 40 year old lady who developed an avoidable foot infection due to hospital staff negligence

This claim arose as a result of the delay in diagnosis and treatment of a foot infection the Claimant contracted following minor injury.

Because the client suffers longstanding complications associated with diabetes, her appreciation of pain in her hands and feet is diminished. She visited her GP who referred her to the local hospital, who failed to properly examine the Claimant's foot or provide any treatment. As a consequence, the Claimant developed a severe MRSA foot infection,  cellulitis, and osteomyelitis, all of which could have been avoided by appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

An expert report was obtained confirming that the complications would have been avoided if the Defendant had treated the Claimant appropriately.

The case was successfully concluded in the Claimant's favour by negotiation without the need to issue proceedings and compensation of £17, 500 was paid by the Claimant along with her legal costs. Fortunately she has made a full recovery from her injuries.
